Updated, New and improved Products. Now more Camp Goodness!
by Kurt Huber | Published 3/15/2024
In the winter darkness of the past couple months I have upgraded, enhanced or created a new variety for 3 of the Camping Kitchen Box products. And now that it is almost spring I have gotten around to blogging about them...
Upgraded Headlamp Strap
The materials of the replacement headlamp strap had been almost 100% upgraded. The elastic webbing has been changed to one that feels silky smooth. The hardware is being replaced with something that is sized more appropriately with a sleeker design. It is kind of hard to tell difference in the pictures but, when you touch it, it just feels better.

Toilet Paper Dispenser
The Toilet Paper Holder started life out as the "Sample Chuck Box". I have come to the realization that people are ordering it as a TP holder and not as a sample, so I have eliminated some of the clunky aspects which made for a good sample, but not for the best toilet paper holder. The changes include replacing the unnecessarily thick 6mm top with 4mm, getting rid of the hook and loop that use to hold the top down and replacing it with elastic webbing and adding a little handle to grab or hang the holder from.

New Headlamp Hanger
Finally I have created yet another design for the headlamp hanger. The pictures below tell the story.

Menu / Checklist Holder - A Customer Customization
by Kurt Huber | Published 12/12/2023
I was corresponding with one of my customers who built 3 Boxes based on our plans for his Trail Life Troop. He pointed out an enhancement that he made to the boxes that I that was really useful. Inside each box he attached a clipboard style clip that can hold Menus / Check list duty rosters etc.

Above is the holder with the Troop's camping kitchen check list.
You can get clips like Charles used on Amazon. Charles is a leather worker so he attached the clipboard holders with double caps, which made for a neat installation.

Above is a picture of one of the troops freshly finished boxes. It's looking good!

Coleman Stoves 413 414 vs 424 425
by Kurt Huber | Published 2/14/2014
For the past 50 years Coleman has essentially made two models of liquid fuel two burner stoves, the 424 / 425 and the larger 413 / 414.
The 424 and 414 are Dual Fuel stoves that burn both Coleman fuel and Unleaded gas. You can tell the Dual fuel stoves at a glance because they have silver fuel tanks as opposed to the red tanks for the traditional Coleman fuel (white gas) only stoves, the 413 and 425 models.
Comparison of Dimensions (in inches)
| 424 / 425 | 413 /414 | |
| Unit Closed | 18 X 12 X 4 1/2 | 22 X 13 X 5 1/2 |
| Cooking Surface | 10 X 17 | 20 X 11 |
| Burners Center to Center | 9 1/2 | 11 |
I recently acquired a Coleman 425 stove from the Goodwill so I thought that I would sit it next to a 414 and take some pictures to compare the size of the two units. The 414 is the larger with the silver fuel tank and the 425 is the smaller with the red tank.
